FAQ

Does that mean you’re a plus-sized line?
Far from it. Our sizes run from 0 to 20. Somewhere along the line, “pear” and “hourglass” became code for “plus sized.” We aim to dispel that myth! Women with small waists and proportionally fuller hips range from lithe and lean (Keira Knightly) to curvy (Beyoncé Knowles).
It’s déjà vu all over again. That describes me exactly. Where can I buy Crescendo?
Crescendo is sold in studio by appointment, via trunk shows and at shopping events in and around Chicago. We can also bring the collection to your home or office. To schedule an appointment, place an order or learn more, contact us at 888.215.0270. www.crescendoapparel.com.
I’m curious. How can I tell if I’m pear or hourglass shaped?
If your waist is 10 or more inches smaller than your hips, then you’re either “pear” or “hourglass” shaped. (Many women are somewhere in between). To find out which of the two best suits you, assess your upper body. Pear-shaped women are petite on top, with slight shoulders and/or small busts. Hourglass-shaped women have strong shoulders and/or ample busts.
Price points, please.
Crescendo’s starting prices: $225 pants; $178 skirts; $245 dresses; $88 tops; $88 wraps.
Wait. Did I just hear you say: Clothes that flatter women with small waists and full hips?
Your ears are not playing tricks on you. Our clothing is made for women who fit the technical definition of the terms “pear” and/or “hourglass” shaped. That just means their waists are 10 or more inches smaller than their hips. These women (and, by the way, that includes the clear majority of women) have spent years taking in virtually every skirt and pair of pants at the waist. Enough already! Because we fit that body type right off the rack, we save you the time and expense of having to tailor everything you buy.
What is Crescendo’s design point of view?
Crescendo gives women access to styles they love in theory but avoid in practice. Until they meet our Kayla Pant, for instance, many women fly past white pants on the rack. They’ve always heard white pants are unflattering. Actually, that’s only true if they’re cut for someone else’s body! With vertical ribs, a full leg for balance and a waistband that emphasizes the Crescendo client’s small middle, the Kayla Pant creates a streamlined look. Suddenly, Crescendo’s clients are stopping traffic in a look they previously avoided.
